Daniff

  1. Daniffs are a mixed breed, resulting in a cross of the Great Dane and the English Mastiff. They may also be called “Mastidane, English Daniff, and Great Daniff.” Both parent breeds are large, so Daniffs get quite big as well.

This breed is considered very loving and affectionate, despite their slightly clumsy tendencies. They have a short coat that can be fawn, black and white, brindle, and in rarer cases, merle or harlequin.

More About The Breed

Daniffs are a mixed breed, resulting in a cross of the Great Dane and the English Mastiff. They may also be called “Mastidane, English Daniff, and Great Daniff.” Both parent breeds are large, so Daniffs get quite big as well.

This breed is considered very loving and affectionate, despite their slightly clumsy tendencies. They have a short coat that can be fawn, black and white, brindle, and in rarer cases, merle or harlequin.

While Daniffs are very intelligent, they may also be quite stubborn. It’s best to start training early on, rather than after they’ve grown. This way, you’ll have a trained big dog, rather than an untrained one that’s hard to control. Positive reinforcement and consistency will help you raise a well-adjusted dog.

Daniffs also grow attached to their people and may act protective of them. For this reason, they can make excellent guard dogs in the right situations.

Daniffs are relatively healthy, but they may be predisposed to some of the conditions of their parent breeds. These include hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, cancer, and heart problems. Most Daniffs live to be 8-12 years old.

Daniffs typically have short coats that shed. Grooming is very easy however, and brushing is recommended once or twice per week. Because of their short coat, they may not tolerate cold temperatures super well, and depending on where you live, it may be good to invest in a doggy coat for this reason.

In addition to coat grooming, the Daniff’s nails should be trimmed monthly, teeth brushed weekly, and their ears kept clean and dry.

Daniffs are highly energetic and require space to run and play each day. For this reason, a small apartment or house without a yard may not be the best home for them.

Daniffs grow to a height of 27-33 inches at their shoulders and will weigh a whopping 115-190 pounds fully grown.
