The Springerdoodle is a cross between two beautiful breeds: the English Springer Spaniel and the Poodle. They come in two sizes, Miniature and Standard, depending on what size of Poodle parent that was used. The resulting pup is a beautiful dog that has a lot of personality and is a good match for most lifestyles. They can be great family dogs and interact well with all ages, but as with all breeds, require thorough socialization in order to grow into confident and adaptable dogs.
Both parent breeds have rich histories. Spaniels have been talked about since as early as 300 A.D. They are beloved for their calm demeanor and consistent companionship. Poodles are one of the oldest and most well-known breeds. While they are often one-half of a mixed breed, a purebred Poodle has been a consistent and popular choice for a household pet and family companion.

Springerdoodles are fairly easy to train, because of their intelligence and people-pleaser mindset. Praise is the best reward that can be offered, and consistency is key. Daily training sessions are often a good option for this pup so that they can be continually mentally stimulated. An understimulated Springerdoodle will get frustrated and develop unwanted habits.
A properly bred Springerdoodle is often very healthy and will live 10 to 15 years, but unfortunately like any breed, they have some genetic predispositions to some mental conditions. Those conditions include Elbow Dysplasia, Ear Infections, Obesity, Glaucoma, Phosphofructokinase (PFK) Deficiency, Hip Dysplasia, and Cataracts. Due to their mixed breed heritage, they are less likely to develop the genetic conditions common in their purebred counterparts.
The curly coat of a Springerdoodle is luxurious but can be prone to mats. Consistent brushing two to three times a week should be enough to keep their coat soft and mat-free. They have thick fur around their ears that should be regularly checked for dirt or wax buildup.
Springerdoodles have a very high energy level that needs to be matched regularly for the sake of your pup’s mental and physical health. They should be taken on daily walks for an hour to get the exercise that they need. For some added mental stimulation try obedience training, scentwork activities, or puzzles to keep your dog happy.
The size of a Springerdoodle can vary depending on if they’re bred with a standard or miniature Poodle, but generally, they stand 14 to 22 inches tall and weigh roughly 25 to 60 pounds.
